Her achievements as a child performer in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the category of child prodigies. But for a person from Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family, they had innate talents. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on August 17, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran an Dublin business. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was an infant and was extremely good at them. She combined this interest with an equally natural talent for performing. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her home country. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her passion for classical theatre and opera singing.
